Is it difficult to install Akupanels?
Not at all! Installing Akupanels is fairly simple, especially if you have some DIY experience. With just basic tools like a saw and a screwdriver, you can install them by yourself. Many of our customers have no trouble installing the panels on their own. However, if you'd prefer, you can always hire a professional carpenter to assist, as the installation is straightforward.
What tools do I need to install Akupanels?
Here’s the tools you’ll need, depending on your installation method:
For wall/ceiling installation with Screws:
- Tape Measure
- Pencil for marking
- Electric Screwdriver
- 30mm Screws (Drywall Screws)
- Circular or Crosscut Saw (for panel adjustment)
- Craft Knife (if needed to adjust the width)
- Spirit Level (for accurate alignment)
For installation on formwork with mineral wool:
- 45x45mm Battens
- Mineral Wool (Class A sound absorption)
- Drilling Machine
- Wall Anchors
- 80mm Screws
- Optional: Glue (for end lamellas)
Can I mount the panels on any type of wall?
Akupanels are flexible enough to be installed on various wall types. Here’s how you can mount them:
- Plasterboard (Drywall): You can screw the panels directly into the wall without the need for wall plugs.
- Concrete or Brick Walls: Use dowels and screws for a secure hold. If preferred, you can use wooden battens for better mounting on uneven surfaces.
- Wooden Formwork: This method is great for even installation, as the battens provide a stable frame.
For adhesive installation, you can use a strong construction adhesive, but keep in mind that this makes the installation permanent.
Can Akupanels be installed with glue?
Yes, you can mount Akupanels with glue. This method is ideal for wall installations but is not recommended for ceilings. Once applied, the glue creates a permanent bond, meaning removal later could cause damage to both the wall and the panel.

You’ll need a glue gun to apply the adhesive:
Tip: The amount of glue you’ll need:
- Akupanel | 240: ~½ tube (290 ml)
- Akupanel | 300: ~1 tube (290 ml)
Which screws do I need for installing Akupanels?
The screws you’ll need depend on the surface you're mounting on. For most installations, we recommend 30mm screws. Here’s what to do based on your wall type:
- Plasterboard (Drywall): Screw directly through the acoustic felt into the wall.
- Concrete or Brick Walls: You’ll need wall plugs (dowels) before using screws.
- Wooden Formwork: Use screws to attach the panels to the battens.

How many screws do I need for Akupanels?
The number of screws needed depends on the size of your panel and whether you’re mounting on the wall or ceiling.
For Akupanel | 300:
- Wall: 12-18 screws per panel
- Ceiling: 27-35 screws per panel
For Akupanel | 240:
- Wall: 9-15 screws per panel
- Ceiling: 21-28 screws per panel
What are end lamellas and do I need them for my installation?
End lamellas are used to finish the edges of your panel installation. They create a neat, professional look along the sides of your wall or ceiling.
End lamellas are available in two thicknesses:
- 22mm: For wall-mounted panels.
- 67mm: For installations with 45mm battens behind the panels for superior sound absorption.
End lamella dimensions:
- 2400 x 27 x 22mm
- 2400 x 27 x 67mm

Can Akupanels be used in bathrooms or outdoor spaces?
- Bathrooms: We do not recommend installing Akupanels in bathrooms or areas with high humidity. The MDF core could swell if exposed to water.
- Outdoor Spaces: Akupanels are not designed for outdoor use. For outdoor projects, we recommend AluWood, a weather-resistant option suitable for exterior use.

Can I install Akupanels on curved walls?
Yes, Akupanels can be installed on curved walls. The felt backing is flexible enough to adapt to rounded surfaces. However, when bending the panels, the spacing between the slats may change. Keep in mind that the panels can only bend to a certain degree before the slats get too close together or too far apart.
Can Akupanels be used for sliding doors or hidden doors?
Yes! Akupanels can be installed on sliding doors or hidden doors. However, there are a few things to consider:
- Hinges: Use stronger hinges to support the weight of the panels.
- Wall Anchoring: Ensure the wall or frame is sturdy enough to support the door’s weight.
- Clearance: Make sure there’s enough space for the door to slide freely.
