When it comes to achieving excellent room acoustics, a general guideline is to cover roughly 25-30% of your room's floor area with sound-absorbing material. For the most impact, install the acoustic panels where sound is most likely to strike quickly—often, this will be the ceiling or a significant end wall.

Why Multiple Sound Tests?

We've conducted multiple sound tests on our panels to account for the different ways they can be installed. The panels' sound-absorbing capabilities vary depending on their setup, and they can fall anywhere within the A-F sound class scale—with 'A' being the most effective.

How Mounting Affects Sound Class

  • Direct Wall Mounting: Fixing the panels directly to the wall without any mineral wool backing results in a sound class rating of 'D'.
  • Mounting on Battens with Mineral Wool: Installing the panels on 45mm battens with mineral wool behind them elevates the panel to a sound class 'A' rating.

Understanding the Ratings

Class 'D' is mid-tier but still performs remarkably well in sound attenuation. It's particularly effective at higher frequencies but less so at lower frequencies. If space is a concern, this setup only extends 2.2 cm from the wall into the room.

Class 'A', on the other hand, is highly effective across all frequencies but does require more space, protruding 6.7 cm from the wall into the room.

Our Recommendation

If you're grappling with significant acoustic issues in your space, we strongly recommend the 45mm batten mounting with mineral wool backing to achieve the best sound quality. 😊
